Family Deployment Support
The Airman and Family Readiness Center offers a variety of programs and resources to help military and DoD personnel and their families to prepare for and cope with separations due to deployments, remote assignments, natural disasters, and evacuations. By addressing emotional, financial, legal, and family issues prior to these events, as well as providing support programs during times of separation, the Airman and Family Readiness Center can help members balance quality of life and mission readiness needs more adeptly.
Pre-Deployment briefings are offered every Wednesday of the month from 1000-1100 at the Airman & Family Readiness Center, Bldg 606. The member is asked to fill-out a Personal Readiness Inventory to see if the member needs possible assistance and the Service Delivery Statement of Understanding. The member is asked to fill-out a Personal Readiness Inventory to see if the member needs possible assistance and the Service Delivery Statement of Understanding. Spouses are encouraged to attend to find out what support is offered. Information presented in the briefing centers around the three phases of the deployment process: pre-deployment, deployment, and reunion. Family programs, such as Hearts Apart, Car Care Because We Care, and Give Parents a Break are also presented during the briefing.
Briefings may also be scheduled on an individual basis for short-notice deployments by calling the Airman and Family Readiness Center. A variety of information packets and resources are issued to the member. We strongly recommend individuals and families be proactive by planning ahead for future deployments. Also, by the order of the 460th Wing Commander, all 460th military members whom attend the A&FRC’s Predeployment briefing with their spouses, immediate and/or extended family members, as an incentive, will be granted a 1-day pass. Redemption of the pass must be coordinated with the member’s immediate supervisor.
Post-Deployment briefings are offered on an as needed basis at the Airman & Family Readiness Center, Bldg 606. The member is asked to fill-out a Personal Readiness Inventory to see if the member needs possible assistance and the Service Delivery Statement of Understanding. If a large contingency returns from the AOR, then a group briefing is conducted with all pertinent agencies present and breakfast is usually provided. Spouses are highly encouraged to attend to normalize the many feelings, thoughts, or behaviors they both may be experiencing during the reunion, financial readjustment, and available community resources.
A packet of information is issued to the member concerning reintegration. Our Readiness NCOIC also requests that the member fill-out a Post-Deployment Survey so we can ensure we are serving not only the military member’s needs but their families. Once all is done the member’s Individual’s Post-Deployment Checklist is signed off. Also, the Center offers the member 16 free hours of child care (utilizing Buckley’s Family Child Care Provider Listing), per child, from returning home from the deployment.
