Check-in Procedures

Reporting Procedures

If you arrive at the AMC terminal via the Patriot Express, you will greeted by your Sponsor after you clear customs, and claim your luggage.

If you arrive at Narita International Airport, you will be required to clear customs, claim your luggage, and travel to Yokota AB on a shuttle bus operated by 374 FSS Vehicle Operations. You may access more shuttle bus information by clicking here. Please coordinate closely with your sponsor if arriving at Narita.

Ensure your sponsor and your gaining unit is aware of your arrival at Yokota AB.

Right Start Newcomers Orientation

Right Start provides base in-processing, mandatory briefings and community resource information for joint-service military members and civilian employees.  Spouses are encouraged to attend both days, and children are welcome to accompany parents as well.

Right Start is held at the A&FRC in Building 535 next the BX/commissary on main base; reporting time will be provided during registration (DSN 315-225-8725). Parents may seek Childcare for PCS  (inquire about the 20-hours, per child, of free childcare sponsored by the Air Force Aid Society for Air Force personnel). 

First Term Airmen

Prior to your arrival to Japan, you will be assigned a sponsor. Please call the A&FRC at DSN 315-225-8725 if you have not been contacted by your sponsor If you are accompanied, you will be given base-housing. Depending on the wait (fluctuates by season), you may be staying at lodging (Kanto Lodge: DSN 315-224-2002) until housing becomes available.

What to do if you get Married Enroute

If you get married prior to or enroute to Yokota, you must inform your losing-unit commander and follow the procedures exactly as instructed. The military will not pay for travel and housing of your spouse if you do not follow proper procedures.

Temporary Lodging Reservations

New arrivals will be met by their sponsors and checked-in to the Kanto Lodge, one of PACAF's largest hotel operations. For more information, visit the Kanto Lodge Website. Families with dependent children may be housed at additional lodging facilities on the East Side of Yokota AB. The Kanto Lodge is a 24-hour operation and can be reached at DSN 315-224-2000/2002.

Command Sponsorship

Family members not command sponsored will not be eligible for any base or military benefits at Yokota AB. The gaining command may only approve command sponsorship if the member is on a remote assignment. Please check with your local Military Personnel Section (MPS) or the Yokota MPS at DSN 315-225-9913 for more information.

Concurrent Travel

Yokota is an accompanied tour area, with concurrent travel of dependents authorized.

Child Care for PCS

To assist Air Force members, the Air Force Aid Society has instituted the "Child Care for PCS" program. Air Force Aid will pay for 20 hours of free childcare per child. Stop by the A&FRC upon your arrival at Yokota and we will enroll you in the program and provide you with a listing of participating home day care providers.
