Introduction

DoD Schools

The Military Community has three Elementary Schools, one Middle School, and one High School. All schools are part of the Department of Defense Dependent Schools (DoDDS) which is part of the Department of Defense Educational Activity (DoDEA). Children of Military Members and Department of Defense Civilians, and qualifying NAF employees who are command sponsored may attend DoDDS schools on Post.

There is one each Elementary school located in Grafenwoehr and Vilseck. Middle School students (grades 6-8) from Grafenwoehr and Vilseck attend Middle School in Netzaberg. High School students (grades 9-12) attend High School in Vilseck. Vilseck is located about 15 miles from Grafenwoehr. School bus transportation is provided for children living off post and for children attending Vilseck High School coming from Grafenwoehr.

School Bus Transportation

Parents of students living off post must contact the School Bus Office (SBO) in advance to arrange for bus passes, bus stops and bus registration. Consult SBO before leasing off-post housing to confirm housing is within bus district.

Buses are provided free of charge but each child must be registered in the school before they can register or be issued a School Bus Pass. The school bus offices are located at the Rose Barracks (Vilseck) High School and in the Netzaberg Schools. Only those students with passes will be authorized to ride school buses. The services are limited to specific areas off post, so be certain to only accept housing within the commuting area. Housing will be able to tell you if your quarters will be within the bus service district.
